The Overwhelmed Marketers Guide: Come out swinging in the new year.

OMG! The Overwhelmed Marketers Guide to Year-End

We’re only a few weeks from the end of the year, and the start of another. Here are five fast ways to make the most of the rest of this year and come out swinging in the new year!

Make a list, check it twice

This one’s pretty general, but overall review your list of goals for the year and decide what you actually can and can’t get done by the end of the year. Remember, most of the time you’ll lose about a week to the holidays, so be realistic about what you can get done, where you’ll need help – and what you’ll need to push to January.

De-cruftify your website

Why wait until spring to do some spring cleaning? Now is a great time to review your website in detail. Check your page speed, fix your broken links, optimize your website, and generally tidy up the place. Check your techno-details

Don’t ring in the new year without reviewing a list of all the domain names your credit union owns, verify that they’re being renewed (make sure there’s a valid card with the registrar), and that you know who or what department or email has access in case you need DNS changes.

It’s easy for this info to get lost and cause a scramble when things start to expire or updates are needed. It’s also important to ensure that only current staff have access, so double-check users and admins.

And the same goes for your social media, Analytics, and other important accounts. Here’s a handy checklist for reviewing your site’s techno-details

Give your partners a heads-up, and get a head start

January is always super-busy for credit union marketers – and those of us who serve credit unions. If you’ve got big plans for next year (and you know you do) get in touch with your partners (like iDiz Inc.) and get penciled into their schedules now. Sometimes, there’s even time to get a project started now and add a few weeks to the following year!

Review and plan for even better social media results

Social media is… well, it’s gotten very, very “interesting” over the last few years, and it’s only going to get more complicated. However, the fact remains that social media is still a great way to engage with members and your communities.

Here’s our guide to reviewing and planning for social media success in the new year. (Bonus: need video content? Of course you do! Grab our free Student Loan Sense videos and our video series on “The Really Real Credit Union Difference” )
